Jordana Schaeffer is a passionate performer and teacher based in the greater Philadelphia area. As the Band and Orchestra Teacher at Rainbow Elementary in the Coatesville Area School District, she strives to create engaging lessons for all learners that develop higher-order thinking skills. Jordana is certified to teach PreK-12 Music Education in Pennsylvania and Delaware.
Jordana has two years of experience teaching middle school General Music in Delaware. She has taught for various organizations, including the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra’s OrchKids, El Sistema USA, and the Philadelphia and Williamsport Area School Districts.
Jordana received her Bachelor of Music Education degree in May 2019 with honors from The Pennsylvania State University, where she studied with Dr. Naomi Seidman. At Penn State, she was a student of the Schreyer Honors College, completed an undergraduate thesis, and was a member of the Wind Ensemble, Philharmonic Orchestra, Flute Choir, and Marching Blue Band. She received her Master of Music degree (Flute) from UC Santa Barbara. At UCSB, Jordana was the Wind Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra principal player and a member of the Flute Choir and Ensemble for Contemporary Music. Jordana was the Flute and Wind Ensemble Teaching Assistant at the University of California, Santa Barbara, from 2019-2021.
Jordana has been active in music festivals throughout the country, including the Iowa Flute Intensive (Iowa City, IA), the Texas Summer Flute Symposium (Commerce, TX), and the Consummate Flutist (Pittsburgh, PA). She has performed at various music conferences with the Penn State Wind Ensemble and Philharmonic Orchestra. At Penn State, Jordana won the Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto Competition, the Performance Recognition Award, and the School of Music Director’s Award.
In addition to performing in the Santa Barbara, CA, and Lehigh Valley, PA, areas, Jordana has traveled to San Francisco, CA, to perform solo flute concerts of 20th-century flute and piano works by Jewish composers. Jordana is a frequent player in the Allentown Band (Allentown, PA).
